Brazilian trade balance shows surplus of US$4.913 bn in early June

According to the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (Mdic), the Brazilian trade balance recorded a surplus of US$4.913 billion during the first two weeks of June, which included six working days. This surplus was achieved through exports worth US$10.276 billion and imports totaling US$5.363 billion.
Year-to-date, the Brazilian trade balance has accumulated a surplus of US$39.835 billion.
In the first eleven days of June, the average daily value of exports increased by 9.9% compared to the same period last year, reaching US$1.712 billion. Agriculture led the sales growth with an impressive 25.4% increase, followed by manufacturing (+5.2%) and extractive industry (+4.4%).
On the other hand, the average daily value of imports during the first two weeks of June experienced a decline of 21.3% compared to the same month in 2022, amounting to US$893.87 million. The decrease in import figures was primarily driven by a significant decline in agriculture (-54.6%), followed by mining and quarrying (-48.8%) and manufacturing (-16.8%).
