The Brazilian trade balance registered a surplus of US$ 523.8 million in the 3rd week of May. According to data released on Tuesday, May 24, by the Ministry of Economy’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), exports equaled US$ 6.034 billion and imports US$ 5.510 billion.
In May alone, until the 3rd week, the trade surplus amounted to US$ 3.112 billion. In the year, the balance is positive at US$ 23.297 billion.
The daily average of exports increased by 6.9% in the first three weeks of May, with a fall of 1% in agriculture, a rise of 19.2% in manufacturing, and a 7.6% reduction in exports of products from the extractive industry.
Imports rose 33.8%, with a rise of 14.8% in agriculture, 100.8% in the extractive industry, and 30.7% in products from the manufacturing industry, always compared with the daily average.
