Brazilian turkey meat exports total over than 58 thousand tons

According to Brazilian government data, the last ten months of 2023 witnessed significant growth in turkey meat exports, reaching 8,457 tons and generating revenue of US$ 172.237 million. This performance represented a 20.3% increase in volume and a 10.7% rise in foreign exchange earnings compared to the same period the previous year. Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná are the main producing and exporting states.
However, according to Avisite, pork prices are the only ones experiencing a modest price increase, with an upsurge exceeding 3%. In contrast, chicken meat prices have dropped approximately 15% compared to the average recorded between January and November 2022, while beef prices are more than 20% lower.
This reduction in chicken and beef values in 2023 extends beyond the comparison with 2022, a year in which both reached record prices. In fact, current figures are still lower than those recorded between January and November 2021, with chicken prices showing an 8% retraction and beef prices experiencing an almost doubled decline, nearing 16%.
Surprisingly, even the average pork price is 4% below the value reached during the same period in 2021. In summary, live chicken, beef, and pork are marking their lowest average values in the past three years this year, signaling a challenging scenario for the meat market in the country.
