Brazil’s beef exports in August hit a record for the period, reaching 248,100 tonnes and generating $1.07 billion in revenue, according to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC) compiled by the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (Abiec).
This represents a 16.5% increase in volume and a 13.7% rise in revenue compared to the same period last year. According to Abiec, the growth in Brazilian exports this year is driven by the sector’s success in opening new markets.
The association also emphasized the surge in shipments to Europe, anticipating the European Union’s new environmental regulations. In August, Brazil exported 7,960 tonnes to the continent, a 27.7% increase. In monetary terms, shipments amounted to $57.6 million, a 27.9% rise.
Year-to-date, Brazil has exported 1.8 million tonnes, a 27.9% increase over the same period in 2023, equivalent to $7.9 billion—a gain of 18.7% over the same comparison frame.
