The Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) reported on Monday (17) that the volume of Brazil’s beef exports stood at 76,600 tonnes until the second week of July 2023.
The data is down compared to the same period last year when the total shipped was around 167,100 tonnes in 21 working days.
The daily average export in the second week of July 2023 stood at 7,600 tonnes, presenting a decline of 3.70% compared to what was observed in July of the previous year, which stood at 7,900 tonnes.
The chart below shows Brazil’s beef exports from January 2019 to May 2023, measured in tonnes, according to the DataLiner system.

The average price of the product in the second week of July stood at US$ 4,831 thousand per tonne, presenting a drop of 26,20% compared to the data released in July 2022, when the average prices registered the average value of US$ 6,549 thousand per tonne.
According to the information of the market analyst at Safras & Mercado, Fernando Henrique Iglesias, the prices negotiated per ton of beef continue to bring concerns to the sector.
“This type of price is dangerous, as it impairs the decision-making of cattle purchases by meatpackers,” he commented.
