Brazil’s Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé) estimates Brazil’s coffee exports will reach a record volume in the 2018/19 season, at nearly 40m 60kg bags, including green and industrialized beans, nearly 10m bags more than the previous cycle. The forecast comes as no surprise after Brazil’s record performance in February, at 3.42m bags, up 36.3% year-on-year.

The organ projects the country’s green coffee shipments could reach between 36.3m and 36.6m bags this cycle which started last July and will end in June, a historical record. The 2014/15 crop cycle currently holds the record at 36.6m bags in total, including 33.1m bags of green coffee.

February shipments fetched the country US$449.4m in export revenues, up 10.6% year-on-year. However, the price of coffee fell by 18.8% to US$131.24 per bag in February compared with February 2018.

Germany was the top coffee destination with 1.24m bags in January and February. Right behind, the United States with 1.23m bags and then Italy with 746,000 bags.

The following DataLiner graph shows Brazil’s month-by-month coffee exports analysis for the last ten years:
