Brazil’s coffee exports up 20.8% in January

According to Cecafe, the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council, Brazil registered record coffee exports for the month of January in 2019, up 20.8% to 3.28m 60kg bags year-on-year. This volume represents green, soluble, roast and ground coffee. Export revenue earned from coffee shipments reached US$439m. The organ is optimistic that the export trend will continue this pace in the coming months.
Of the total volume exported, arabica coffee shipments were 88.5%. Arabica coffee exports grew by 15.5% to 2.9m bags in January year-on-year. Conilon coffee shipments rose by 986% to 138,500 bags, year-on-year. Robusta coffee exports reached 138,537 bags, while soluble coffee recorded 236,644 bags. However, the average price of coffee per bag fell 17% to US$133.35 from US$160.95 in January last year, reaching the lowest in twelve years.
Brazil coffee export volume reached 24.2m bags in the July 2018/June 2019 period, up 30.5% compared to the same period last season.
