
Brazil’s corn crop set to fall following low Rio Grande do Sul production

Estimates from consultants INTL FCStone indicate that Brazil’s first 2019/20 corn crop will be 3.4% lower than expected, reaching 25.75 million tons following a below-average crop in Rio Grande do Sul due to hot weather and low rainfall.
The forecast of the Rio Grande do Sul corn crop fell 20% compared to the previous forecast and is now estimated at 4.8 million tons.

FCStone also raised the forecast for Brazil’s 2019/20 soybean crop to 121.76 million tons from 121.6 million tons in the previous estimate.
