Data by the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) indicates that, between January and June, footwear industry exports totaled 75 million pairs, generating US$ 651.6 million in revenue. These figures correspond to a growth of 31.3% in volume and 67.5% in revenue compared to the same period in 2021.
In June, exports totaled 10.7 million pairs and US$ 112.9 million, up 37.6% in volume and 72.5% in revenue.
According to the chief executive of Abicalçados, Haroldo Ferreira, the numbers indicate a full recovery back to the pre-pandemic activity levels. In terms of revenue, the semester was 35.6% better than the same period of 2019 and 30.9% in terms of pairs sold.
Ferreira points out that sales to the United States and neighboring countries, such as Chile, excel in exports. “The United States, the main destination for footwear exports, has already doubled the volume imported. In the case of Chile, shipments increased by almost 120,” he says in a note sent by the association to Valor.
