Hidrovias do Brasil (HBSA) recently received new pusher tugs, two state-of-the-art vessels that will bring more efficiency and safety to the company’s operations. The vessels, called HB Dourada and HB Mapará, will be deployed in the Miritituba – Barcarena route in the state of Pará, promoting more operational efficiency for the company’s activities in the north of the country.
The new pushers have improved features compared to previous models and were customized for Hidrovias do Brasil, with improvements in the ventilation and air conditioning system, resizing of port generators, and isolation of filters, among other modifications that guarantee more comfort for the crew and efficiency for operations.
Furthermore, the tugs have a dual diesel-electric propulsion system, a technology that promotes better energy use, composed of electric generators that contribute to high potency, making them the most potent pushers in Brazil.
The vessels are in the final testing stages and will soon be able to make their first trips. With the newest assets, the company’s branch of operations in the north of the country now has a fleet of six pushers with azimuth thrusters and propellers that allow the vessels to rotate 360º, offering better maneuverability, operational efficiency and safety for the crew and surrounding communities.
In addition to the pusher boats, the company will soon start using the first electric maneuvering pusher in the world, also in the country’s northern region. And recently, the company carried out the first trips with 35-barge convoys, the largest in Brazil in river navigation, carrying more than 70 thousand tonnes of grains between Barcarena and Miritituba in Pará.
