Brazil’s meat exports rise 41.4% in April
May, 17, 2019 Posted by datamarnewsWeek 201921
According to the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), Brazil’s combined meat exports fetched US$1.2bn in export revenue in April, up 41.4% compared to the same month last year. Last month’s results are the outcome of China’s hunger for meat as the country compensates for the reduction in national production during the ongoing battle with African swine flu.
The increase in meat exports is a contrast to Brazil’s recent fall in soybean exports. Brazil’s largest soybean destination, China, reduced imports from the South American country by 13% to 20.07m tons in the first four months of 2019, according to Cargonave shipping agency.
