The Brazilian government announced that during the visit of the Minister of Agriculture of Sarawak, Malaysia, an agreement was reached on the International Sanitary Certificate (CSI) model for the export of Brazilian poultry and beef.
In 2024, Brazil exported over 30,000 tonnes of poultry and beef to Malaysia, amounting to approximately $67 million. Sarawak, a state with a population of around 2.5 million, is located on an island separate from mainland Malaysia and has specific food import requirements. With the state’s approval of the International Sanitary Certificate, exports to Malaysia are expected to increase significantly in the coming years.
With these new trade openings, Brazil’s agribusiness sector has secured its 44th new market in 2025, bringing the total to 344 new business opportunities since the start of 2023.
These achievements result from joint efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
