Brazil will promote two international business missions to expand the Brazilian beef export market. The first will bring representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa) and the state-owned Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) to Indonesia. Minister Marcos Montes, Fernando Zelner, the deputy secretary of Commerce and International Relations of Mapa, and an Embrapa appointee will go to the country on this first visit.
The second mission to Southeast Asian countries will take place the following week, led by personnel from the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA). The information was disclosed by the president of the Federation of Agriculture of Rio Grande do Sul (Farsul), Gedeão Pereira. He had lunch at the 45th Expointer on Sep. 1st with Minister Montes, the president of CNA, the head of the Uruguayan Minister of Agriculture, Fernando Mattos, and representatives of other state agriculture organizations.
According to Zelner, Indonesia, the world’s fourth most populous country, is suffering an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease and is experiencing demand not being met effectively by Australia, the country’s biggest seller.

“These visits are almost strictly commercial,” summarized the president of the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (ABIEC), Antônio Jorge Camardelli. According to Zelner, the Indonesian market has been open for Brazilian meat since April 2020, but Indonesians only now saw “price and sustainability” in Brazil. “An agreement has been sealed since the beginning of the year, and the Indonesians have already sent a delegation to Brazil recently,” says him.
