According to the Logistics Bulletin released by the National Supply Company (Conab), a significant portion of Brazil’s corn exports in the first quarter of this year, amounting to 43.3%, departed via the Northern Arc ports. This marks an increase from the 36.2% share observed during the same period the previous year.
Trailing closely is the port of Santos, which saw 32% of operations, compared to 25% in the corresponding period of 2023.
Paranaguá (Paraná) contributed 4% to the corn export total for the quarter, reflecting a decrease from 18.8% during the same period last year. Meanwhile, shipments from the port of São Francisco do Sul constituted 15.1% of the volumes shipped, up from 11.5% a year earlier.
Conab’s data reveals that the leading states in terms of corn exports during this period were Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, and Maranhão.
In soybeans, 35.3% of national exports left the Brazilian shore from the Northern Arc, a slight decrease from the 37.5% recorded in the previous year.
Through Santos, 35.9% of soybeans were shipped, down from 43.3% in the preceding year. Paranaguá accounted for 16% of sales, compared to 8.7% a year earlier. Additionally, the port of São Francisco saw 6.8% of soybean exports, an increase from 3.7% in the previous year.
“The primary sources of export shipments were the states of Mato Grosso, Paraná, Goiás, and Mato Grosso do Sul,” added the report.
