Portonave’s new Kalmar Eco Reach Stacker has arrived at the Santa Catarina state-based terminal. The terminal was the first in Latin America to purchase the sustainable reach stacker. The utility vehicle reduces the emission of greenhouse gases, such as CO2, NOx, and SOx, by 40% without compromising productivity.
According to the manufacturer, the new Reach Stacker can reduce fuel consumption by up to 40% compared to older models and up to 25% compared to the most recent ones. The forklift started operating this week.
The equipment uses Arla 32, a liquid-reducing agent (Urea 32.5%) responsible for the chemical reaction inside the catalyst, reducing the emission of NOx (nitrogen oxide) in the engine exhaust gases. In addition, other innovations accompany the Reach Stacker. The machine is designed to reduce unnecessary efforts; thus, all wear and tear are reduced.
Due to its engine-transmission set, unlike other models used in Brazil, the system optimizes fuel consumption and reduces polluting gas emissions. The new model is used for full containers and has a lifting capacity of up to 45 tonnes. In addition, it can stack 6 Dry and 5 HC containers.
Growth and Sustainability
In its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Portonave continually invests in sustainable initiatives. Because of this, since 2016, the terminal’s 18 transtainers have been electrified. Switching from diesel to electricity reduced the use of diesel by 94% and the emission of polluting gases from equipment by 98%.
