Brazil’s Sugar Export Revenue Drops 37.1% Compared to 2024

Brazil’s sugar and molasses exports during the first 17 business days of January showed a daily average of 30.1% lower than in January 2024, according to a report released on Monday (27) by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services through the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex).

In January 2024, the daily average for sugar and molasses exports was 144,082 tons, with total shipments reaching 3,167,804.1 tons. In early 2025, the daily average fell to 100,755.7 tons, with 1,712,847.3 tons exported.

With a 10% price drop, from USD 536.7/ton to USD 482.8/ton in 2025, average revenue decreased 37.1%, from USD 77,323.8 thousand to USD 48,649.3 thousand. Thus far, over 17 business days, Brazil has earned USD 827,037.4 thousand from sugar and molasses shipments, compared to USD 1,701,124.2 thousand earned over 22 business days in January 2024.
