Brazil’s trade balance BRL 2.49 bln surplus in 1st three weeks of December

The Brazilian trade balance closed the third week of December with a USD 2.49 billion surplus, according to data released on December 19 by the country’s Ministry of Economy foreign trade secretariat.

The amount is the result of US$ 15.18 billion in export earnings and US$ 12.69 billion spent on imports.

Exports grew 19.1% compared to the same period in 2021, the same for imports.

From January to the third week of December, exports grew 20% and totaled US$ 323.54 billion, compared to the same period in 2021. On the other hand, Imports grew 25.1% and totaled US$ 263.52 billion.

Consequently, the trade balance surplus stood at USD 60.02 billion, up 1.8%, and the trade flow increased by 22.2%, reaching USD 587.96 billion.
