Oct, 10, 2022 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202241
The trade balance registered a surplus of US$ 1.60 billion in the first week of October, informed the Brazilian Ministry of Economy. The value results from exports of US$ 7.56 billion and imports of US$ 5.96 billion.
Year-to-date, the surplus totaled US$ 49.31 billion, 9.6% less than the balance accumulated between January and the first week of October 2021.
The daily average of shipments in the first week of October increased 33.8% to US$ 1.512 billion compared to October of the previous year. The growth was driven by sales abroad of agriculture (+118.2%), followed by the manufacturing industry (+36.9%). On the other hand, average mining and quarrying industry exports dropped 14.6% on the same basis of comparison.
The daily average of imports also grew 16.2% to US$ 1.192 billion, in the first week of the month, compared to October 2021. The advance was supported by purchases from the manufacturing industry, which grew by 21.1%. Imports of extractive industry products, in turn, shrank 38.4%, while agricultural imports dropped 13.2%.
