Brazil’s Trade Balance Hits $543 Billion in Flow, $69 Billion Surplus by October’s 4th Week

Brazil’s Trade Balance recorded a surplus of US$2.1 billion and a trade flow of US$11 billion in the fourth week of November 2024, resulting from exports worth US$6.533 billion and imports of US$4.471 billion.
For the month, exports totaled US$21.6 billion, imports US$15.3 billion, with a positive balance of US$6.3 billion and a trade flow of US$36.9 billion.
Year-to-date, exports reached US$306.047 billion and imports US$236.763 billion, resulting in a surplus of US$69.284 billion and a trade flow of US$542.81 billion. The Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (MDIC) published these and other results on Monday (November 25).
Monthly Comparison
In exports, the average up to the fourth week of November 2024 (US$1.542 billion) was 10.6% higher than in November 2023 (US$1.394 billion). Imports grew by 14.6% (US$1.095 billion) compared to November 2023 (US$954.87 million).
Thus, up to the fourth week of November, the daily average of the trade flow totaled US$2.6 billion, and the surplus, also on a daily average, was US$447.31 million. Compared to the average of November 2023, there was a 12.2% increase in the trade flow.
Exports and Imports by Sector and Product
In the year-to-date up to the 4th week of November, compared to the same month in the previous year, the performance of exports by sector in daily averages was as follows: a growth of US$36.85 million (9.9%) in the Extractive Industry a growth of US$160.27 million (22.5%) in Manufacturing Industry products; and a decline of US$52.93 million (17.6%) in Agriculture.
For imports, the performance by sector in daily averages was as follows: a growth of US$3.24 million (18.3%) in Agriculture, a growth of US$138.56 million (15.9%) in Manufacturing Industry products, and a decline of US$3.13 million (5.4%) in the Extractive Industry.
