The Brazilian trade balance reached a surplus of US$ 1.27 billion in the fourth week of March, as reported by the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (Mdic) on Monday (27).
Such a value is the result of US$ 6.276 billion in exports and US$ 5.006 billion in imports in the period. In March alone, the positive balance reached US$ 7.99 billion and US$ 13.1 billion year-to-date.
The daily average of exports up to the fourth week of March, increased by 7.4% compared to March last year, to US$ 1.435 billion. The performance was driven by a 22.8% increase in sales in the extractive industry, 4.5% growth in agricultural shipments, and 1.3% in the manufacturing industry.
The daily average of imports registered a slight increase of 0.1% to US$ 991.92 million in the first four weeks of March compared to the same month of 2022.
The increased average of imports was supported by purchases by the manufacturing industry, which rose 1.2% in the period. Conversely, international landings fell in agriculture (-22%) and mining and quarrying (-7.3%).
The full March balance performance should be released on March 3rd.
