The Vila Velha Port Terminal (TVV), managed by Log-In Logística Integrada, conducted an unprecedented Volkswagen vehicle import operation in Espírito Santo (ES) on Monday (31) in partnership with Comexport and shipping company K-Line. The first batch included a shipment of Taos models manufactured at the German automaker’s plant in Argentina for distribution in the Brazilian market.

According to Log-In’s Terminal Director, Gustavo Paixão, this operation marks a significant milestone in TVV’s modernization and efficiency strategy. “This achievement is not just the result of infrastructure investments but also of strong partnerships and trust with our key clients,” he stated.

TVV was chosen for this groundbreaking operation due to recent retrofits and modernization investments, which enabled the terminal to accommodate this type of cargo handling. Additionally, Paixão highlighted that the project reinforces TVV’s diversification model, strengthening its multipurpose role and expanding Ro-Ro vessel operations.

“Our commitment to diversifying operations in recent years has established Espírito Santo as a key logistics hub in Brazil. Partnering with a giant like Volkswagen do Brasil reinforces this position and creates new opportunities for the state,” Paixão added.

The following vehicle shipment is scheduled for May, bringing additional Taos units.

Strategic Benefits

The choice of the Espírito Santo terminal expands Volkswagen’s logistics network, which already operates through the ports of Santos (SP), Paranaguá (PR), and Suape (PE). According to the automaker, this new operation will be crucial for the arrival of key models, such as the new Jetta GLI, produced in Mexico and set to enter the Brazilian market in 2025.

Luiz Ricardo de Medeiros Santiago, Volkswagen do Brasil’s Executive Director of Government Relations, emphasized that the operation benefits all stakeholders—the state and local economy, Volkswagen, and its customers. “Logistics is fundamental for any company in a country as large as Brazil. Having partners in strategic states like Espírito Santo is essential as Volkswagen decentralizes its vehicle distribution operations in Brazil,” he stated.

Espírito Santo’s Vice Governor, Ricardo Ferraço, highlighted that Volkswagen’s decision to use the state for imports reflects its strong infrastructure, entrepreneurial capacity, and expertise in foreign trade. “Businesses highly value this.

When we combine port infrastructure, the efficiency of bonded warehouses that distribute these vehicles nationwide, and the quality of the local workforce, we drive the growth and expansion of vehicle imports,” he noted.

Paixão also emphasized the operation’s success and continuity. “We recognize the magnitude of this project and are prepared to ensure efficient, secure, and consistent operations. This experience not only strengthens our reputation but also paves the way for other projects to choose TVV and Espírito Santo as their preferred logistics alternative,” he concluded.
