Brazil’s waterways remained uninterrupted in August, but with restrictions

Hidrovias do Brasil has announced that there were no interruptions in the Southern Corridor in August, even during a scenario of major operational restrictions due to the water crisis.
“The river situation in the region remains atypical, with a draft level below historical averages”, says the company, noting that it was able to maintain operations by directing lower-draft vessels to the most critical regions.
Hidrovias ended August with an 80% market share in Corumbá, against 68% in June, it is expected that navigation will continue in a restrictive manner during September. The company continues to take all possible measures to operate on time throughout this month, in order to avoid a complete stoppage of operations in the most critical region of the Southern Corridor.
