BRF receives 1st Canada-issued license to export pork

BRF received its first Canada-issued license to export pork protein. Fresh and frozen cuts will be produced at the company’s Campos Novos unit in Santa Catarina. This is the second time Canada has granted authorization for a BRF unit to ship animal protein in 2022. In May, the Toledo plant in Paraná had already been authorized to export cooked poultry meat.
The authorization follows the opening of Canada’s pork market to Brazil, a trend that only started last month. Annually, the North American country imports about 250 thousand tonnes of the product.
“This new certification is a milestone, as it symbolizes the opening of an important market, encouraging new authorizations to emerge soon and positively impacting our export volume,” explains Leonardo Dall’Orto, vice-president president of International Market and Planning at BRF.
The Campos Novos unit is one of BRF’s newest and with the highest number of export licenses. The products produced there mainly go to South Korea and China. The factory is also authorized to ship products to Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina.
