BRF is now licensed to export sausages to South Africa. According to a company statement, the item, created especially for the South African market, will be produced at Marau, in northern Rio Grande do Sul, from the second half of 2022.
“It is a product that fits well into the consumption profile of South Africans. Therefore, we will further diversify shipments to the country”, says the executive manager of International Relations at BRF, Luiz Tavares.
Currently, breaded items such as chicken nuggets and poultry steaks are shipped to South Africa from other company units. According to BRF, the new products have the potential also to enter other countries on the continent.
Items such as chicken cuts, bologna, and sausages are already shipped from the unit to other international markets, such as South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Haiti, Peru, Cuba, and other African countries.
