BTP attests to 100% clean energy usage

This July, Brasil Terminal Portuário (BTP) was awarded the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC), a global recognition that guarantees the use of renewable energy by companies. This means that from now on, 100% of the energy used for BTP operations is clean, coming from renewable sources.
According to the company, its environmental policy began even before its trajectory in the Port of Santos. BTP was responsible for the environmental remediation of the former Alemoa dump, transforming the country’s largest environmental liability into a port area, in the location where it currently houses and operates the largest container terminal in South America.
Every year, BTP undergoes a rigorous process of presenting detailed environmental, social, and governance information, as well as a document audit, seeking to develop its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) fundamentals, in line with the vision of its shareholders.
The I-REC certification, which has international validity, has been used in Brazil since 2017 and has become a reliable means of proving the origin of the energy used by the certified companies. BTP had the support of partner companies such as 2W Energia and Engie Brasil during its process to obtain certification.
