BTP receives four new RTG cranes from China’s ZPMC

On Wednesday, Santos container terminal Brasil Terminal Portuário (BTP) received four new RTGs (rubber tyred gantry cranes) manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited (ZPMC). The cranes were delivered to the terminal by Chinese flagged vessel Huanghai Struggler. BTP has also acquired 12 shunt trucks and two reach stackers from the manufacturer Kalmar Global this year bringing terminal equipment investments to US$9m so far in 2019.
With the new fleet, BTP boasts a total of 30 RTG cranes, 57 shunt trucks, and five reach stackers.
The company intends to expand its operational capacity by 5% in 2019, BTP’s operations director said.
