Brasil Terminal Portuário (BTP) has already filed a request to renew its contract at the Port of Santos, with the commitment to make an additional investment of R$ 1.3 billion. The idea is to extend the lease, which would expire in 2027, for another 20 years, until 2047.
The request submitted by the company on Wednesday (May 26) to the Ministry of Infrastructure provides for works on the container terminal itself which is operated by the company. The company’s shareholders are Terminal Investment Limited (TIL, from MSC) and APM Terminals (from Maersk).
The new investment package provides for purchasing various pieces of equipment, reinforcing the berthing docks to serve larger ships (366m), automating the process for the terminal’s entrance and exit gates, readjusting buildings, and expanding the reefer area (refrigerated load).
The idea is to expand the operating area from the current 430,000m² to 454,000 m².
