Buenos Aires strike ends with pay rise and bonus for terminal workers

FeMPINRA (the Port, Maritime and Naval Industry Federation) workers called an end to the strike affecting BACTSSA, Terminal 4 and Terminales Rio de la Plata at the Port of Buenos Aires after two days of inactivity. The strike, originally planned for five days, ended following successful salary negotiations between the terminals and FeMPINRA.
A 37% increase on 2018 wages was agreed during negotiations, as well as a one off 10,000 peso bonus to be paid to workers in two installments; 7,000 pesos in May and 3,000 pesos in June. FeMPINRA called the strike to protest the refusal of port terminals to follow through on pay rises which had been agreed to and signed by the terminals during previous negotiations in August 2018.
