Bulk carrier damaged by rogue barges in the Paraná River

The tugboat Hércules XV, from a batch of seven Paraguayan-flagged barges, broke free from a mooring in the area and collided on May 1st against the bow of the Liberian ship Adrienne, which was waiting to operate at the Vicentin dock, in the roadstead of the southern area of the port of San Lorenzo, at kilometer 444 of the Paraná River.
So violent was the collision that water flooded the deck of the largest vessel. Port sources indicated that the tugboat collided squarely with the Adrianne ship while she was sailing downstream.
The seven barges loaded with ore released their moorings and sailed adrift in the San Lorenzo area until at least one of them, the tugboat Hercules XV, collided with an anchored cargo ship waiting to enter the dock for operations.
The Liberian-flagged vessel Adrienne was severely affected by the impact of at least one of the loaded barges.
The event occurred when a batch of barges suddenly broke free from a mooring in the area and at least one of them collided with the bow area on the port side of the Liberia ship, coming from Monrovia, which had made stops in Brazil and in Santa Fe, causing a course of great magnitude in the hull.
Meanwhile, the barges belonging to the Imperial Logistics company, of the Hidrovias do Brasil group, also suffered severe damage, although they were not at risk of sinking, according to some of their crew members.
No spillage of products or fuel from the affected ship has been reported.
The ship is anchored while they carry out a survey and damage control, by members of the crew and members of the Argentine Naval Prefecture.
