Cabotage shipping on the rise in Rio de Janeiro
Jun, 27, 2022 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202226
The Port of Rio de Janeiro, managed by Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ), had a cabotage throughput of 1.163 million tonnes in the first four months of 2022, 745 thousand more than the volume registered last year. The growth percentage is 178.4% year-on-year.
Antaq recently released the data above in its Estatístico Aquaviário report.
The regulatory agency also points out that containers transported in cabotage operations in the Port of Rio de Janeiro stood out. According to the Port Authority, this upward trend in container throughput is due to the increase in the volume of cargo transshipment.
Antaq’s Estatístico Aquaviário is a public utility online tool for consulting up-to-date waterway data with information on port movement, long-distance navigation, cabotage, ship berthing, tariffs, indicators, and ship operating times.
