Port of Rio de Janeiro throughput up 15.1%

The first four months of 2022 were positive for the Port of Rio de Janeiro, with total handling of 3.327 million tonnes, up 15.1% from the same period last year. These figures were announced by Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ), responsible for managing the Rio de Janeiro Port Complex, which includes the ports of Itaguaí, Niterói, and Angra dos Reis.
According to a survey conducted by the Port Authority’s Business Planning department, the growth trend in containerized cargo handling at the Port of Rio de Janeiro observed in previous months remained at a high of 23.3% compared to 2021. In TEUs, the volume handled (172,228) increased by 27.7% compared to the same period last year.
The survey also found that container throughput in the Port of Rio de Janeiro increased every month of 2022 compared to 2021.

Earnings – The Port of Rio de Janeiro earned R$132.6 million in the first four months of 2022. The sum represents a 12.1 percent increase over the same period in 2021.
