Super Terminais, a private terminal in the industrial center of Manaus, recorded a 741,469.80-tonne throughput by the end of November, up 72% from the same period in 2021, with a record of 429,548.38 tonnes. The cargo transported in more than 122 thousand containers consisted mainly of electronic products used to supply the Manaus Free Trade Zone.
Three new electric cranes acquired by the port terminal are expected to begin operation in the first half of 2023, resulting in a 25% increase in current productivity.
According to Marcello Di Gregorio, director of Super Terminais, 2022 was a very positive year for the company, mainly from the point of view of productivity and quality of operations. “Today, we have the best average stay for ships in the Manaus region, which reaches 44 hours. Furthermore, we beat our own hourly record eight times this year. Of the 37 ships operated so far in 2022, 30 had averages above 35 containers moved per hour and 15 above 40 containers per hour, a very positive index,” celebrates the executive.
Currently, most ships that pass through Super Terminals tranship in Panama, in Central America. Cargoes are then transferred to other vessels that move them mainly to Asia, Europe, and America.
New investments
According to company executives, 2023 will be marked by even better rates at Super Terminais. After the installation of the three new ESP cranes manufactured in the Netherlands and considered the most modern in Brazil, the port terminal’s productivity is expected to increase by at least 25%.
