Two large vessels, the NV BBC Raise (October 19) and the Alcyone I (October 16), have docked at the Bahia-based Port of Ilhéus, carrying nickel and soybeans for export. These two operations have set new records and marked an outstanding 33.5% increase compared to the same period in 2022, with a significant growth of 120% in the last quarter.
The standout of this milestone is the NV BBC Raise, which brought 11,000 tonnes of nickel. This precious cargo is destined for Finland, where it will be refined and used in various industrial applications. The significance of this shipment transcends local borders, underscoring the Port of Ilhéus’s global logistics importance.
In parallel, the Alcyone I, a giant vessel laden with 33,000 tons of soybeans, added a second chapter to the established record. The soybeans loaded on the Alcyone I have a distant destination: Tunisia.
The 33.5% growth compared to the same period in the previous year is a testament to the port’s management capabilities and strategic investments, positioning it as a benchmark for logistics efficiency in Brazil.
This achievement also highlights Brazil’s importance in global trade, showcasing its ability to meet the demands of various markets, from grain production to the export of precious minerals.
The Port of Ilhéus stands at the epicenter of this process, catering to the growing demands of global commerce and driving economic development in the region.
