CDRG handles 5.7 million tons in July

Cargo handling for the month of July 2021 by Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ), which manages the ports of Rio de Janeiro, Itaguaí, Niterói, and Angra dos Reis) reached 5.7 million tons. The result surpassed the average for the first half of the year by 11.9% and was 38.8% greater than the movement of July 2020. In the accumulated result for the year, the volume moved exceeded by 29.9% the numbers registered in the same period last year.
The data were released by the Business Planning area of the port authority. According to the report, the Port of Itaguaí handled 4.9 million tons in July 2021, which represents an increase of 42.2% compared to July 2020. At the Port of Rio de Janeiro, 752,000 tons were handled in July 2021, an increase of 18.8% compared to July last year. The main cargo handled – iron ore and containerized cargo – showed growth in every month of 2021 compared to 2020.
The analysis carried out shows that the revenue of the four ports in July 2021 totaled R$110.3 million, 95.7% greater than that of July 2020. In the year-to-date result, the increase is 67.1% compared to the same period last year. The Port of Itaguaí reached the highest monthly revenue of 2021 in July, with R$87.9 million. The value is boosted by iron ore export terminals, reaching around R$75 million in the month. In July, the Port of Rio de Janeiro also reached the second-highest monthly revenue of 2021, with R$21.2 million, just behind the month of January.
