Ceará EPZ prepares for expansion

Eight years ago, Ceará’s Export Processing Zone (EPZ) started its activities, becoming the first free-trade zone in Brazil. Since then, it has already handled 50 million tons of cargo.
Between now and year-end, Ceará EPZ is preparing to inaugurate its first expansion. Called Sector II, the project comprises 137 hectares, and it will be constructed in four phases. The first phase is in the final stretch of works. It comprises 23 hectares, divided into small and medium lots, providing conditions for the installation of large companies and also small and medium-sized industrial enterprises.
A subsidiary company of the Pecém Complex, also formed by an Industrial Area and the Port of Pecém, the Ceará EPZ has 6182 hectares of area for investments.
Currently, Sector I of the Ceará EPZ, covering 1251 hectares, has three companies installed: Companhia Siderúrgica do Pecém (CSP), the first integrated plant in the Northeast; White Martins; and Phoenix.
