CentroNave will not negotiate port operations for Libra
May, 20, 2019 Posted by datamarnewsWeek 201921
CentroNave – Brazil’s National Center for Transatlantic Navigation – an association representing the 22 largest long-haul shipping companies operating in Brazil, sent a press release signed by the organization’s president, Claudio Loureiro, saying it does not negotiate commercial or port operation contracts.
The statement is a response to Santos Port Authority’s (Codesp) promise to the leaders of Settaport (the union representing Libra Terminais employees); Codesp said it would request CentroNave and its partners to sign a transitional contract with Libra to ensure container vessel calls at the terminal until a new tenant takes over the area. Codesp will now have to look for other cargo for the terminal to avoid dismissing staff.
