Chicken: domestic sales remain heated, and exports grow
Oct, 13, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202139
In early October, chicken meat continues in high demand in the monitored regions. According to researchers from Cepea, sales – which were already heated even at the end of September – intensified at the beginning of the month.
As a result, many sellers raised prices, but only slightly, fearful that too high levels would drive away buyers. Chicken meat exports showed a strong increase in September, after having decreased in August. 418 thousand tons were exported an increase of 10.2% compared to the previous month and 21.3% more than in September 2020, according to data from Secex compiled by Cepea.
See the chart below for a history of Brazilian chicken exports. Data are from DataLiner:

Cepea researchers point out that heated foreign sales were added to the high price of Brazilian poultry protein on the international market and the appreciated dollar against the Real, a scenario that resulted in record revenue.
