Chicken meat exports grow 4.8% in August

In August, Brazilian exports of chicken meat (all products, including fresh and processed) totaled 379,900 tons, an increase of 4.8% compared to the exports registered in the same period last year, with 362,500 tons. The information is from ABPA (the Brazilian association of animal protein producers).
Revenue increased by 36.1%, reaching US$ 677.3 million in August this year, against US$ 497.8 million in the eighth month of 2020.
In the sum of the first eight months of 2021, chicken meat exports reached 3.048 million tons, an increase of 7.58% compared to the same period last year, with 2.833 million tons.
In the same period (January to August), export revenue reached US$ 4.893 billion, an increase of 18.2% compared to 2020, with US$ 4.140 billion.

China, the main export destination, imported 57,400 tons in August, a volume 4.8% higher than in the same period in 2020. Taking second place in exports, the United Arab Emirates imported 38,800 tons in the month, an increase of 50.5% over August last year. In third place is Japan, with 35,200 tons, an increase of 1.7% over the eighth month of 2020.
Other highlights of the month were the European Union, with 17,200 tons (+12.5%), Mexico, which entered the “top 10” with 15,100 tons (+591.4%), the Philippines, with 12,100 tons (+55.1%), Russia, with 9,500 tons (+17.6%), and Libya, with 8,900 tons (+161.5%).
Among the main exporting states are Paraná, which shipped 157,000 tons in August (+10.18%), followed by Santa Catarina, with 77,600 tons (-0.88%), and Rio Grande do Sul, with 50,800 tons (-17.5%).
