The Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries of Uruguay, Fernando Mattos, together with the Chinese ambassador, Wang Gang, visited the production, breeding and fattening plants and factories, in the midst of negotiations for China to approve the entry of Uruguayan poultry products .
The first point was the visit to the farm located in Camino Melilla, where there is an authorized plant for the export and slaughter of poultry. There, the authorities met with executives from the company that guarantees the manpower of 400 people. After that, they toured the facilities. Later, they went to the city of San Bautista, Canelones, to visit the fattening sheds of a producer in the region and, finally, they went to the feed factory located on Route 6.
The minister explained that China is a country that demands animal protein from Uruguay and maintains a strong presence in the sale of beef and lamb. He added that authorizations are requested for the export of poultry and horse meat to that country. “We are advancing in this exchange to be able to make the products viable”, he said. With that, Mattos informed that he will visit China this year to advance in the improvement of protocols and trade conditions and to strengthen bilateral relations. The information is from the CMA Latam Agency.
