Chile was the fourth largest wine exporter in the world and the first non-European country on this list in 2022. However, the volume of wine exports in 2022 decreased by 4%, reaching 831.8 million liters. Their value also declined by 3%, reaching 1,908.5 million dollars. Its average price increased by 1%, standing at USD 2.29/liter.

China became the primary market for Chilean wine in 2022, both in terms of value and volume, surpassing the US, which ended last year with a loss of 31%. The United Kingdom, the third largest market, also experienced a decline.
Argentina
Argentina’s wine exports ended 2022 with a -14.6% drop to 246.8 million liters (-39.1 million). The numbers are far from the historical peak of 2008 (430.5 million liters). In terms of value, the drop was smaller (-4.7%, to 787.5 million dollars) since the average price increased by 11.6% to 3.19 USD/liter.

Only sparkling wine exports, which hold a small share of the total, increased in 2022. Bottled wine, which represents 92% of revenue and 76% of total export volume, closed the year with a negative balance, guiding the fall in value (-29.3 million dollars).
Canada, the United Kingdom, and China were largely responsible for the global drop in exports of Argentine wines in 2022, a bad year also for sales to Paraguay, Germany, Denmark, and the United States. The growth in sales to Colombia, Brazil, or the Netherlands does not offset the losses.
