Chile: Entry of cargo through border crossings grows 19.6% in January 2023

According to information provided by the National Customs Service, the dynamic database of cross-border land traffic recorded the entry of 776,110,808 kilograms of cargo to Chile in January 2023, representing a 19.6% increase compared to the same month in 2022.
In line with the above, in the first month of last year, Chile’s market added 623,617,832 kilograms of cargo, which was transported to Chilean territory by 36,186 trucks.
This year, the movement of 46,775 cargo vehicles from Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru to Chile was realized, of which 36,892 were registered abroad, and 9,883 were registered in Chile.
The highest amount of cargo entered Chile through the Cristo Redentor border crossing (Los Libertadores) in the Valparaiso Region, which connects with Argentina. A total of 16,346 trucks entered the country through this point, carrying 358,243,986 kilograms of cargo.
The second-highest amount of cargo entered Chile through the Chungará border crossing in the Arica and Parinacota Region, which connects with Bolivia. This was done through the transit of 9,238 heavy load units carrying 148,908,544 kilograms of cargo.
In third place was the Integración Austral (Monte Aymond) border crossing in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica Region, which also connects with Argentina. This was achieved through the movement of 4,203 trucks carrying 68,397,785 kilograms of cargo.
