
Chilean beef exports up 46.7% Jan-Nov 2022

The Chilean Secretariat for Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa) published a new edition of its Beef Bulletin report, stating that Chilean beef exports increased 46.7% from January to November 2022 compared to the same period the previous year, shipping 22,769 tonnes abroad.
Thus, the value of Chilean goods of animal origin totaled US$ 122,452 FOB, which reflected an increase of 76.3% compared to the same period in 2021.
The average price achieved by products shipped from Chile abroad was US$5,378/ton, which translated into an increase of 20.1% compared to the same period in 2021.
As for the leading destinations for Chilean meat, China was the biggest buyer, acquiring 20.866 tonnes in the period studied, representing a 54.9% increase.
The other countries that bought beef from Chile were Spain, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, South Korea, Costa Rica, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
It is worth mentioning that, between January and November 2022, 216,933 tonnes of pork meat and offals were also exported, showing a decrease of -12.8% compared to the first 11 months of 2021.
Finally, 160,318 tonnes of chicken meat were mobilized, with a positive variation of 15%. On the other hand, hamburger shipments fell by 35.6%, totaling 602 tons against the 935 reached in 2021.
