The main figures include USD 4.8 billion in fresh fruit shipments, USD 5.3 billion in seafood products, and USD 1.073 billion in wine exports.

Fruits such as cherries, which recorded a record export of almost USD 2 billion in the summer, 26.4% more than in 2023, and grapes, which by August totaled USD 931 million in shipments, an increase of 17% compared to the same period last year, played an essential role in this increase. Apples, for their part, increased their shipments by 10% to USD 471 million, blueberries recorded USD 403 million in shipments, with a rise of 21.2%, and plums increased their exports by 40.6%, reaching USD 308 million.

Likewise, meat exports increased by 6.6% compared to the eight months of the previous year, totaling USD 913 million. This growth, mainly driven by a 26% increase in poultry meat shipments, which reached USD 285 million, indicates a promising diversification in Chilean food exports.

“Food is Chile’s main export sector outside of mining and is a crucial ambassador for our country in international markets. Thanks to the public-private work to detect and open opportunities in different markets and also to work carried out by different companies in areas such as sustainability and innovation, our country has earned a reputation as a supplier of healthy, safe, and sustainably produced food,” added the general director of ProChile, Ignacio Fernández.

Between January and August, the value of food exports from Chile increased in all the main destination markets. The United States was the leading importer, with USD 3,628 million, 0.3% more than in the same period of the previous year. It was followed by China, with USD 2,822 million, an increase of 11.4% and Brazil with USD 1,088 million, which corresponds to an increase of 23.1%. These significant increases in key markets reassure us of the stability and growth of Chilean food exports.

The value of food exports also increased to Japan (USD 1,073 million, 7.5% increase), Mexico (USD 516 million, 23.1% more), Spain (USD 371 million, 16% increase), and South Korea (USD 356 million, 6.6% more than in the same period in 2023), among other markets.
