According to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), two chicken meat production units in Brazil had their export licenses to China suspended.
On Monday, January 31st, the association informed that it had received notification of the suspension imposed by Chinese authorities on two of its associates’ production plants. However, it did not go into further detail.
“ABPA is supporting the Brazilian government and the companies involved to expedite the process of restoring the export qualifications,” said the ABPA.
According to the ABPA, the association does not expect significant impacts on Brazilian chicken meat exports since the country currently has 43 plants authorized to export the product to China.
China recorded a 14.3% share of total chicken meat shipments from Brazil in 2021, importing 640,000 tonnes.
Earlier, the newspaper Valor Econômico reported that the embargoed units belong to São Salvador Alimentos, located in Itaberaí (GO), and Bello Alimentos, from Itaquiraí (MS).
