
China’s sugar imports drop 8.3% in October

China’s sugar imports dropped 8.3% in October, to 810,000 tons, the customs general administration announced on Thursday.
In the accumulated result for the year until October, 4.64 million tons of sugar were imported by China, an increase of 27.2% compared to the same period in 2020.
China is Brazil’s main sugar buyer. See below for other destinations. Data are from DataLiner:

In the year to October, Brazil exported 22.6 million tons of sugar to all destinations, compared to 24.85 million tons in the same period last year, according to data from SECEX (the foreign trade secretariat).
In October, Brazilian exports totaled 2.3 million tons, down 41.4%.
