CitrusBR predicts Brazil’s orange juice exports to close harvest period up 17.5%

According to the National Association of Citrus Juice Exporters (CitrusBR), Brazilian orange juice shipments may close the 2019/20 harvest with an increase of about 17.5% compared to the previous harvest, with approximately 1.1 million tons. According to the entity, the volumes accumulated in the harvest may reach this growth if the average exported in this month of June, which is the last month of the season, remains at 90,000 tons of the FCOJ equivalent. Exports rose 16% in the first eleven months of the 2019/20 crop, to 998,788 tons compared to 858,904 tons registered in the same period during the previous season, according to federal government data compiled by CitrusBR.
Of those importing, orange juice shipments to the European Union have so far totaled 702,135 tonnes, an increase of 27% compared to that shipped in the same period during the previous harvest. Brazilian exports of the beverage to the USA registered an 18% drop in the 11-month period, with a volume of 154,416 tons. In Asia, Japan imported 51,985 tons, 14% more than in the eleven months of the 2018/19 harvest, while China acquired 41,272 tons, a 37% increase in the accumulated result for this season.
