CMA CGM omits Natal Port following drug bust

The Port of Natal is hanging on a thread after authorities seized 3.3 tons of cocaine from containers at the port last month. After the drug bust, the port has suspended exports of fruits and other commodities. A Datamar source confirmed CMA CGM has omitted Natal from its FRENCH GUYANA / NORTH BRAZIL service route, which it shares with Marfret. This is the only service which currently operates at the port according to DataLiner. The service’s map and port rotations are shown below:
Tomorrow a public hearing will be held to discuss the stoppage. DataLiner shows fruits are the largest cargoes for the Port of Natal. The following graph shows CMA CGM’s container movements since 2009:
