On Monday, May 31, teams from the Internal Revenue Service carried out their 10th seizure of cocaine at the Port of Paranaguá container terminal. The drug was hidden in a compartment that houses the engine of the refrigerated structure used to transport goods. A total of 46 kilos were confiscated.
The cocaine tablets were found during an inspection carried out by the federal agency at the port terminal. Every structure moved into the yard goes through a scanner and the images collected are analyzed by the RFB team. If any irregularity is found, the container is pulled aside.
Seizure in Santos
On May 27, customs teams from the Federal Revenue service in Santos had already seized 354.5 kg of cocaine hidden in a container exporting paper cargo in an attempt to use the Santos port complex to send the cocaine to Europe.
The container was selected for verification using objective risk analysis criteria, including non-intrusive inspection by scanner images. The paper cargo had as its final destination Great Britain but would transship at the Port of Antwerp, in Belgium.
