The privatization process of Companhia Docas do Espírito Santo (CODESA) is in the final phase of analysis by the TCU, (federal auditi court). The information was provided by the national secretary for Ports and Waterway Transport, Diogo Piloni.
With the approval of the TCU, the Ministry of Infrastructure (MINFRA) will be able to publish the notice for the concession of the first state-owned port to the private sector by the end of the year and will hold the auction in the first half of 2022, as scheduled. The process should result in the contracting of R$783 million in private investments.
“We have the obligation to deliver something that will have a positive impact for the company, for Espírito Santo and for Brazil”, highlighted the secretary. As for the administration of ports in the country, he added: “We need to think of a more efficient management model and have more managers who are able to assume commitments in such a complex sector.”
