Commodities Ranking for East Coast South America | Jan-Mar 2024 vs. Jan-Mar 2023 | DataLiner

The following tables show the top-ranked containerized commodities on the East Coast of South America, namely Brazil and Plate countries. The data encompass the first three months of the year, as well as a comparison to a year prior, as per data collected by Datamar’s Business Intelligence team.

Brazil

Meat leads the charge in the rank of Brazilian exports via containers, with shipments increasing 6.2% from a year prior. Wood shipments grew by 19.2%, while cotton saw an impressive 290.9% increase in international shipments over the same twelve-month period. More information is available below:

Plastics took the top spot among all Brazilian containerized imports, up 33.8% in the first three months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Reactors, boilers, and machines (+16.9%) and appliances of electrical materials (+33.8%) round up the podium. More information below:

Plate

Meat also made it to the top of the ranking of Argentine exports in the first quarter of 2024, with a 15.6% increase in shipments compared to the same period in 2023. On the other hand, exports of vegetable products dropped 25% from a year prior. See the full ranking below:

Motor vehicles and parts were the most imported merchandise by Argentina in the first quarter of 2024, with a volume 5.6% lower than in the same period of 2023. Imports of reactors, boilers, and machines fell by 30.5%, whereas plastics dropped by 21.6% in the same comparison. See more below:

The top export commodity from Paraguay and Uruguay via containers is wood, which increased 13.4% in the first three months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Meat shipments decreased 7%. View the remaining ones below:

When comparing the first quarter of 2024 to the same period in 2023, imports of motor vehicles and parts from Paraguay and Uruguay increased by 31.2%. Reactors, boilers, and machinery (+29.9%) and rubber (+38.2%) followed. View the complete list here:
